Goin' with the flow

Day 2 - Sunday May 18

Nothing like free breakfast in the morning to start the day. The free coffee, fresh fruit, and individually packaged muffins come in handy for on the road. Not to mention, we do have quite a collection of yummy goodies our friends put together for us for our trip! In fact we have to keep ourselves from eating it all too fast! We already finished 1 pound of beef jerky!

We headed from Albuquerque to Boulder, Colorado. A 465 mile stretch, half the distance from the night before. A few places we stopped...

Las Vegas, NM
Trinidad, CO
Denver, CO
Westminster, CO

As we have our main route in mind, for the most part we've been managing to “go with the flow” in terms of finding lodging last minute and figuring out our site seeing plans. So far so good! It’s nice to have the freedom to be flexible. We ended up staying just past Boulder in the city of Westminster. (We’re coming across so many familiar sounding places, its almost as if we never left CA!) This La Quinta is so homey, cozy and relaxing -- much better than the first one – with a 24hr indoor pool, hi-speed internet that is actually hi-speed, and they even provided freshly baked chocolate chip cookies in the lobby! =)

We arrived sometime around early evening (we were still confused by the time change) which gave us more time to relax and have a filling dinner. The weather was beautiful. Crisp, fresh, clean air. Originally we were going to explore the Rocky Mountains the same day, but decided to stay one more night and to spend the next day to site-see the area before leaving. It was worth the additional day as we will share with you on the next post about our Day 3...there’s lots of pics to sort through!
