It was the first "96" (4 day weekend) since being here and our schedule was pretty much set before I even realized it was a holiday weekend...Friday: some "Mando-Fun" (mandatory fun) outing with all the JAGs at
Tonneau - dubbed "the Barrel Restaurant" since the building itself is shaped like a giant keg. I don't think I've seen sashimi and sushi pieces cut so big n thick. I would have taken a photo, but it wasn't on my plate =) ...Saturday: after running around doing more home shopping, we had a dinner date with a couple Danno met when we first arrived. Home cooked meals are always delicious. Since we've been here, eating Kobe steaks is a regular, wonderfully delicious thing. Even for me who's on the pregger diet, I can actually still enjoy this steak when it's cooked well-done! ...Sunday: church as usual and more resting, shopping, etc ... Finally Monday: was our first time to get out and explore the coast a bit. We've been doing so much browsing in stores on our free time, it was nice to be outside for once! We went with Chris and Bryn, whom we've become great friends with. Danno and Chris endured NJS together. Bryn went along with Chris to Newport and delivered their first baby Braddock around graduation. So we're looking forward to watching Leyna and Braddock grow up together out here!
We didn't plan to stay the whole day, so rather than a white sandy beach, we went to explore a great snorkeling/diving spot...a bit hard to find and off the beaten path. It was a great place...not so many people...good for kids since theres lots of shallow areas for them to snorkel in...just TONS to explore. Here's some pics...
You see Danno in the distance? Funny because the moment we got there, he gets a work phone call. Yes, working on holidays can be so tough...but in this setting, sure doesn't look like one of those days!
